An international collaboration of like-minded women have joined forces for an event that aims to empower women with tools to live a passionate, purpose-filled life, ignite inner peace and develop practices that optimize emotional and physical health.
The team in Jamaica includes Deika Morrison, Carleene Samuels and Justine Henzell – women who have each made notable impact on the local philanthropic, creative and entrepreneurial scenes. The trio have launched Irie and Ital, an initiative that will roll out conscious lifestyle events and projects in Jamaica, while supporting social causes and contributing to the growing movement towards mindful living and culture.
On Sunday, June 11th at Spanish Court Hotel, Irie and Ital will host three, US-based women who are leading the way in re-energizing wellness among women of colour around the globe, both through a massive social media presence and their Supernatural Wellness Pop-Up Tour, a year-long, 12-city project that is already completely sold out in the USA.
This Irie and Ital event – A Day of Inspiration – is the Kingston stop on the Supernatural Wellness Pop-Up Tour. The all-day format, which begins at 10:30am and ends at 5pm, will include yoga, lunch, journaling and wellness practices that promise to deepen women’s connection to themselves so they can live a more vibrant, fulfilled life. It will also be a space to de-stress and share.
The event presenters are acutely knowledgeable on wellness, with each of them working in the different aspects of the arena.
Francheska Medina, known as Fran of HeyFranHey.com, is a wellness advocate with a huge social media presence of nearly 600,000 followers. As a star YouTuber vlogger, blogger and podcaster, she has helped to shift the dialogue around self-care among young black women, making conscious, holistic health cool for an audience that has grown accustomed to a culture that glamorizes the opposite.
Fran’s journey to wellness and a super successful career around conscious living, began almost a decade ago when she was hospitalized for a debilitating chronic illness. When doctors told her she needed surgery, she followed her gut and instead revamped her lifestyle. She completely healed herself through alternative medicine, diet, movement and stress relieving, wellness practices.
Passionate about studying the body and the best holistic practices for optimum health, Fran’s online empire grew naturally over time as she has always sought to share what she has learned in an authentic way. Since the launch of HeyFranHey.com in 2011, Fran has been featured in Ebony, Essence, Nylon, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Lucky Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, Refinery29, Vibe, Buzzfeed and The Huffington Post; and has been a 2015 “Travel & Wellness Ambassador” For Marriott International, a Lifestyle Ambassador for Levi’s Jeans and is currently developing a “Health & Beauty” series on YouTube with Whole Foods Market.
For the 2017 Supernatural Pop-Tour, Fran believes she has forged the perfect partnership with Yeradmi Gomes and Maryam Hasnaa.
Yeradmi is a yoga teacher who incorporates principles of reiki and meditation into her work. She is also the founder of a retreat space in her homeland of the Dominican Republic called Santiago Guest House, which she uses to facilitate rejuvenation and community-building. Yeradmi leads the deeply therapeutic yoga segment of the event.
Maryam Hasnaa, who goes by Hasnaa, owns a plant-based line of products called ResonanceApothecary, for which she utilises her expansive know-how on alternative medicine, herbs and essential oils to create products that promote mental and physical healing. All of her work aims to help people awaken to their soul’s calling through wellness practices and spirituality, leading people to step into their fullest power and access transformational healing. This is her key contribution to the group’s wellness event.
An important element of the event is its commitment to extending the good vibes beyond the day. Through proceeds raised, Irie and Ital will carefully select and contribute to a local nonprofit that works for the empowerment of women and children.
With the strong vision of its dynamic local team, and the powerful commitment to wellness of its US presenters, the Supernatural Wellness Pop-Up Kingston event promises to be an incredibly calming day of healing, inspiration and change.
This event is sponsored by Supreme Ventures Group, Proven Wealth, Jamaica Public Service Co. Ltd, Spanish Court Hotel, Jakes Hotel and Do Good Jamaica.
